Tampa Loan Broker Arrested in Alleged $375,000 Advance Fee for Loan Scam
Kelly Oliver was arrested and charged with two counts of collecting an advanced fee from a borrower to provide services as a loan broker, a third-degree felony.
Oliver is the owner of Real People Lending LLC, a Florida Corporation that uses the name of Business Loans Solutions (BLS). BLS entered into at least two agreements to obtain loans and finance construction projects for their clients in exchange for an up-front payment. One victim paid $250,000 upfront to obtain a $30 million loan, and another victim paid BLS more than $120,000 to secure a $22.4 million loan. The victims never received any of the loan funds or full refunds of their fees.
The OFR investigated this case, and the Department of Financial Services Bureau of Insurance Fraud and the Tampa Police Department made the arrest. The Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
