Boca Raton Man Sentenced to 14 Years in Prison for Role in Investment Fraud

February 21, 2025

David Bruce Cohen was sentenced to 14.5 years in prison after being convicted of two counts of grand theft and one count of money laundering, for his role in an investment scam. Additionally, Cohen was ordered to pay restitution of $1,450,000.

Cohen induced a Florida victim to invest two separate times - $1,200,000 in a cannabis company promising an eight percent return, and $250,000 in a townhouse promising a 12 percent return, both with ECP Capital Partners Inc., a firm controlled by Cohen. However, the victim never received returns from the investments.

A review of financial institution records revealed that Cohen was transferring funds obtained from the victim to his personal accounts for various uses, which included making victim restitution payments on a previous unrelated case.

This case was developed jointly with the OFR and the Palm Beach County Sherriff’s Office.
